About the Journal
FUWGESTJ is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal published quarterly by the General Studies Directorate of the Federal University Wukari. The journal welcomes original scholarly contributions across a wide range of fields, including pure and applied sciences, medical sciences, engineering, technology, agriculture, humanities, arts, social sciences, education, environmental sciences, gender studies, vocational education, life sciences, management, and information and communication technology. Special attention is devoted to the English language—both in its everyday use and as a second language for academic study in Nigerian institutions of higher learning. The journal also emphasizes the development of effective communication skills and the continuous enhancement of linguistic competence.
In recognition of the demands of global communication, the journal supports curricular efforts that keep students and readers informed about contemporary issues. This includes the introduction of Environment and Sustainable Development as a course designed to align learning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and Peace and Conflict Resolution, which equips students with practical and theoretical tools for fostering harmony in a multi-ethnic society like Nigeria.
Through its publications, FUWGESTJ seeks to achieve the following objectives for students and the wider academic community:
-
Cultivating graduates with sound, critical, and analytical minds.
-
Developing individual capacities to understand, appreciate, and promote peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
-
Equipping individuals with essential tools for communication, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement.
-
Providing a broad-based interdisciplinary education that transcends the limits of single-discipline perspectives.
-
Promoting sustained, wide-ranging learning and scholarly growth.
-
Helping individuals understand and preserve Nigeria’s cultural heritage, as well as African traditions more broadly.
-
Clarifying the distinction between patriotism and ethnicity, and sensitizing individuals to reject ethnic bias when national unity is at stake.
-
Encouraging the integration of technological, scientific, and humanistic perspectives in personal and professional life.
-
Strengthening national awareness, loyalty, understanding, and the spirit of patriotism among readers.
